Welcome

Welcome to the first edition of our online newsletter, foundation focus. This initiative is aimed at enhancing the communication between the Australian Motor Sport Foundation and all key members and stakeholders, and will be released on a bi-monthly basis.

With the AMSF recently launching its new website, foundation focus will compliment the website and ensure all members are kept up to date with information and results of funded and supported drivers, initiatives in driver development and ways to become actively involved in the Foundation.

2009 has already proved to be a successful year for all drivers associated with the AMSF. AMSF Patron Mark Webber is enjoying his most successful season to date and currently sits fourth in the 2009 FIA Formula 1™ World Championship. They say success filters down from the top; and certainly is the case with our Australian drivers. Past funded drivers and international representatives Daniel Ricciardo, Will Power, James Davison and John Martin are enjoying successful seasons thus far; while on the national front Will Davison is clear in second position in the race for the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship.

These results have spurred on the younger generation of AMSF supported drivers, with AMSF International Rising Star Molly Taylor a runaway leader at the half-way mark of the 2009 Suzuki Swift Sport Cup; part of the British Rally Championship. Closer to home, CAMS Rising Star Scott Pye, competing in the 2009 Australian Formula Ford Championship sits second and is hungry for success in the second half of the season; eager to challenge for this year’s Championship.

Throughout foundation focus, you will get to know our drivers, what they are up to and how they are progressing. I hope you enjoy foundation focus and all the interesting news, information and initiatives the AMSF communicates. Please feel free to provide us with any feedback about how we can improve our communication or articles you would like to see featured. Feedback can be directed to James Madder by emailing james.madder@amsf.org.au.
