Remaining overseas, AMSF past funded drivers Will Power, James Davison and Daniel Ricciardo have all enjoyed victories in their respective categories. On the national front, it is pleasing to see the continued success of past funded drivers competing in the V8 Supercar Championship Series. Sitting second in the championship, Will Davison is having a great season; with James Courtney recently winning the inaugural race in Townsville. These outstanding results demonstrate the ability of the AMSF to assist talented young Australian drivers in their pursuit for national and international success.
AMSF International Rising Star Daniel Erickson and CAMS Rising Star Scott Pye have both enjoyed maiden victories in the British Formula Ford and Australian Formula Ford Championship’s respectively. In this edition of Foundation Focus you will find detailed stories on how both victories were achieved and the build up to the season ending rounds.
To ensure the AMSF is able to assist our drivers reach their full potential and continue the outstanding results on both the national and international motor sport stage, the AMSF needs your support to continue the level of support that is required to foster and harness the abilities of our talented young Australian drivers. As you will see the AMSF have upcoming events and activities to get involved in to support and assist the Foundation. I encourage you to get involved and ensure that the AMSF can continue the excellent work and support that our drivers benefit from.
I look forward to reporting to you in our next edition of Foundation Focus about the continued success of AMSF supported drivers both nationally and internationally as we count down to the end of the 2009 season.
In closing, the AMSF and Australian motor sport community was deeply saddened to hear of Frank Gardner’s passing on August 29th 2009.
