Remaining overseas, previously funded drivers Daniel Ricciardo and James Davison have had exceptional seasons in their British Formula 3 International and Firestone Indy Lights campaigns respectively. Ricciardo became only the fourth Australian driver to win the prestigious championship and has been rewarded with a FORMULA 1™ test earlier this month. Davison had a fantastic season this year; finishing second in the very competitive Firestone Indy Lights in the USA.
AMSF International Rising Star's Daniel Erickson and Molly Taylor enjoyed solid seasons and both took a lot of experience away from their first season competing overseas. Taylor enjoyed wins in her first two outings in the Suzuki Swift Sport Cup, while Erickson was victorious at the famous Donington Park circuit.
Closer to home, previously supported driver Will Davison finished his 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series in second position behind eventual series champion Jamie Whincup. Will has had a fantastic season and all associated with the AMSF congratulate him on his efforts.
CAMS Rising Star Scott Pye finished the 2009 Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship in third position; an excellent result for both Scott and the program. The AMSF is very proud of all of our supported drivers' results this year, and wish them all the best with their career aspirations.
2010 is shaping up to be another busy year for the AMSF; with the CAMS Rising Star Program preparing for another Australian Formula Ford Championship series. In this edition of Foundation Focus you will find a preview of the 2010 CAMS Rising Star Program and the drivers' representing the program. In this edition of Foundation Focus we have also included a preview of the 2010 AMSF International Rising Star Program and drivers representing the AMSF on the international motor sport stage.
However, the highlight of next year will no doubt be the AMSF hosting an evening to celebrate the motor racing career of Tim Schenken. Tim's contribution to motor sport both on and off the track has been enormous and the AMSF is very proud to be honouring a true legend of Australian and international motor sport. The event is also the major fundraiser for the AMSF, so make sure you book your ticket and ensure the Foundation can continue to assist and support our talented young Australian drivers. Please follow the links below to purchase your tickets.
Finally, I would like to wish all associated with the AMSF the very best over the festive season. I wish you all a very merry Christmas and look forward to the continued success both on and off the track in 2010.
